The Good Business (TGB) is an initiative to foster sustainably oriented start-ups and SMEs in Ethiopia. With its programs and actions, TGB supports the development and implementation of growth concepts and expansion strategies through knowledge transfer, mentoring, start-up financing and investment options.

In March 2021, TGB launched its first business development programs for Ethiopian impact start-ups and SMEs. On May 19-20, 2021, the initiative also hosted a bootcamp for these business groups. “Design Market Success” aims at the country’s fashion and textile sectors. The goal is to provide participating companies from the fashion, textile and accessories sectors with new strategic approaches through knowledge transfer and exchange on how they can optimize their production, increase their reach, boost their impact and create jobs along their supply chain – even in times of a pandemic.

The keynotes, discussions and panel talks with local and international experts from the various industry segments focused on topics such as the potential of sustainable businesses, the opportunities of cooperative production, the optimization of production and logistics, marketing strategies and e-commerce
Running in parallel, the idea competition will provide seed-funding to 5 sustainable businesses that are responding to the Covid-19 pandemic with innovative concepts that secure their jobs in their business. A total of 5 winners will be awarded, each of whom will receive support worth €5,000 to implement their ideas.
