On July 1, 2022, Schmits Chemical Solutions BV, Almelo/Netherlands, founded the sales and service company Schmits Chemical Solutions GmbH in Ochtru/Germany to further centralizing business development in Germany and DACH market.
Ingo Seitz will act as main contact person of the new company, together with the managing and technical director of Schmits Chemical Solutions GmbH, Jurgen Bolscher and Miechel Zweers.
Schmits has developed new backcoating that make carpets, rugs and mats recyclable. The latest innovation in this area is a carpet backing (backcoating) for polyester (PET) carpet, which is made entirely of PET. If the carpet is made of one material (mono-carpet), it can be reused more easily. If the carpet backing does need to be made of a different material, Schmits looks at whether those materials can be easily separated. In this way, the carpet will still be easily recyclable at the end of its life.
Using this technique, Schmits is able to provide a backcoating for carpets made from a variety of materials that will give the carpet the desired properties and also generate the required recyclability. These new solutions were presented during Techtextil in Frankfurt/Germany on June 21-24, 2022.
