How do you find the right sewing machine needle for each product? A wide range of products can be manufactured from textiles and leather. Different sewing applications are used in this process: Not only do individual parts have to be joined together by seams, but buttons also have to be attached, zippers sewn in, appliqués applied, or edges cleaned up. This, in turn, requires different sewing machines, each of which uses specific needle systems.

The many variables also influence the choice of needle. Not only must the correct needle system be selected, but the needle size and point shape must also be adapted to the material being sewn. This often makes choosing the right needle difficult.

The path to the right needle
With the "Needle Finder", Groz-Beckert KG, Albstadt/Germany, offers an interactive tool to help select the right needle. For this purpose, various product examples are displayed on which different seams are displayed. By selecting a seam, details on the application, such as the stitch type class, are displayed. In addition, recommendations are made for the product and the seam with regard to needle point and needle size. In addition, the common needle systems that are usually used for the selected seam are suggested.
After selecting the needle system suitable for the machine, the user is taken directly to the order function. In many cases, the Needle Finder recommends a further variant in addition to the standard needle. This could be, for example, a special application needle developed specifically for sewing the selected product, or a needle with special features offering additional advantages for the selected application.

The Needle Finder is integrated into the Sewing customer portal from Groz-Beckert. In order to cover as many areas of application as possible comprehensively, the Needle Finder is constantly being developed and additional products added.
