In order to make denim fabrics more sustainable and circular, Candiani developed the stretch fiber technology Coreva. Coreva allows the world’s first compostable stretch denim fabric. The patented technology uses elastic yarns obtained from natural rubber in place of the synthetic elastane (spandex) yarns which are commonly in use. Coreva yarn consists of organic cotton wrapped around a natural rubber core which retains the elasticity, durability and physical qualities of stretch denim fabrics.
The Coreva technology is complete circular. Its raw materials become fabric which at its
end of life can return to nature without impacting the ecosystem, turning into compost in less than 6 month and serving as fertilizer for new raw materials. In addition, the fabrics do not release any microplastics.
Since its first presentation in 2020, many fashion brands have already chosen Coreva of Candiani SpA, Robecchetto con Induno/Italy, for their stretch jeans.
