In autumn 2021, the clothing company C&A Mode GmbH, Düsseldorf/Germany, will open the "Factory for Innovation in Textiles" in Mönchengladbach/Germany. Here, innovative, sustainable garments will be developed and produced using modern technologies. For the implementation, C&A is working together with the Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences, the Textile Academy NRW, RWTH Aachen University and start-up companies, among others.
The factory will feature a highly automated sewing room and laundry; initially, 400,000 pairs of jeans per year will be produced, and later 800,000. Around 100 employees are to be hired in the coming months and, together with the NRW Textile Academy, will be trained to work at the modern and CO₂-neutral site.
At C&A in Mönchengladbach, production will initially focus on sustainable jeans. In this area, C&A developed the world's first jeans to be certified with the Cradle to Cradle Gold level in 2018.
