The manufacturer of sewing and embroidery machines Bernina had a successful business year in 2021 and achieved the highest sales in the company's history with an increase in sales of 9 % to €267 million.
3 special models, decorated with Swarovski crystals and sold under the "Crystal Edition" banner, played a major role in the success. The Bernina 590 Crystal Edition, B 790 Plus Crystal Edition and B 880 Plus Crystal Edition were available as limited editions. Other products including the Bernina 770 QE Plus models, the new overlockers with air threaders, the multi-needle embroidery machines from subsidiary Melco and the products under the Bernette brand made an important contribution to the successful financial year.
The companies in the Bernina Textile Group, Steckborn/Switzerland, are owned by the globally operating holding company Fritz Gegauf Holding AG, Steckborn, and offer sewing and embroidery systems for consumers in the premium segment. Bernina has also offered longarm quilting machines for professional use since 2014. Melco International LLC, Denver, CO/USA, is one of the leading companies in the world for multi-needle embroidery systems for commercial and industrial use.  
Also belonging to the Bernina group are Brewer LLC, Chicago, IL/USA, one of the biggest distributors of haberdashery (notions) in the USA, and Benartex LLC, New York, NY/USA, a supplier of top-quality quilting fabrics. OESD LLC, Oklahoma City, OK/USA, creates attractive, high-quality embroidery designs.
