In January 2022, an Andritz tearing line for spinning grade fibers was successfully started up at Sasia's Ribeirão mill in Portugal. The international technology group Andritz AG, Graz/Austria, delivered a 7-cylinder Jumbo tearing machine. As the first of its kind in Portugal, the machine contains the latest Andritz Laroche innovation for fiber opening, featuring a new generation pinning configuration. Sasia’s plant now has 4 state-of-the-art Andritz Laroche tearing lines.
Since its foundation in 1952, Sasia-reciclagem De Fibras Têxteis Sa, Ribeirão/Portugal, is engaged in the circular economy with the aim of reducing textile waste by turning it into usable raw material again, increasing ability to compete as well as promoting innovation and sustainability.
