October 28, 2021, is an important date for companies exporting chemical substances in quantities of over one ton/year to the UK. With Brexit, the UK has established its own chemicals regulations. Given this, notifications and registrations of chemical substances made under EU REACH will no longer apply in the UK. A downstream user import notification (DUIN) is to be carried out for this purpose. If the recipient of the chemical substances in the UK does not take care of the DUIN and registration directly, the exporter will have to appoint a UK-located Only Representative (OR) to look after the process.
TÜV SÜD Limited in Glasgow will take over the role of Only Representative in the UK, while manufacturers and/or exporters in Germany will be supported by the local REACH experts at TÜV SÜD Industrie Service GmbH, Munich.
