The SCTI alliance has appointed Dr. Isabella Tonaco as Executive Director, effective November 1, 2022. She will lead SCTI to drive transformational change in the textile and leather industries.
Launched in August 2020, Sustainable Chemistry for the Textile Industry (SCTI) is an alliance of leading chemical companies that strives to empower the textile and leather industries to apply sustainable, state-of-the-art chemistry solutions that protect factory workers, local communities, consumers and the environment. It has 7 founding members: Archroma, CHT Group, Huntsman, Kyung-In Synthetic Corporation (KISCO), Pulcra Chemicals, Rudolf Group and Tanatex Chemicals.
Based in Germany, Tonaco will work with SCTI member companies and stakeholders across the textile and leather value chain to help the industry achieve the high levels of sustainability. She will report to the SCTI Executive Committee.

Tonaco has more than a decade of experience in sustainability and has held various strategic and commercial roles in the chemical industry. Most recently, she was Vice President of Strategy Execution and Marketing for Renewable Polymers & Chemicals at Neste Oyj, Espoo/Finland, a global leader in renewable and circular solutions. Previously, she worked for BASF SE, Ludwigshafen/Germany, where she established and executed the company's global leadership position in certified sustainable palm-based ingredients for the Personal Care industry.
