For his commitment to the industry, Prof. Stefan Mecheels, owner and managing director of the Hohenstein Institute, received the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany on March 18, 2022. He is the 3rd generation to lead the Hohenstein Institute, Bönnigheim/Germany, and continuously drives forward its internationalization. Mecheels has not only been active as an entrepreneur for decades, but is also involved in regional politics, national as well as international textile associations and in the presidium of RAL gGmbH, Bonn/Germany.
As a founding member of the Oeko-Tex Association, Zurich/Switzerland, Hohenstein is committed to sustainability standards in the textile industry, among other things. In addition to certifications, Hohenstein also carries out laboratory tests and inspections. With private as well as publicly funded research, Hohenstein also provides impetus for the entire textile industry and beyond.
