On October 22, 2021, Freudenberg Filtration Technologies opened a new manufacturing facility in Foshan/China for global research and development (R&D), and production of filters for air purifiers, among others. With a total investment of some € 50 million and a floor area of 65,000 m², the site is the largest manufacturing facility of Freudenberg Filtration Technologies Holding SE & Co. KG, Weinheim/Germany, worldwide. The investment is driven by greater health awareness as well as an increase in the demand for air and water purifiers.
The new site is almost 60 % larger than the previous one and is home for administration, production, logistics, warehousing and R&D facilities with more than 1,200 employees.
The new research, development and test center alone covers an area of 4,500 m². Automated material handling systems are used for the seamless integration of upstream and downstream processes. The new facility also has additional warehousing for more agile logistics processing.
As an eco-friendly manufacturing facility, it complies with Freudenberg’s global standards and regulations applicable in China with regard to sustainability, environmental protection and occupational safety. Initiatives include substantial investments in wastewater and a modern waste management system. The facility will also achieve optimal energy efficiency with the use of rooftop solar panels and heat recovery systems.
