Now the Index is finally taking place in-person in Geneva, what do you hope/expect from this fair?
We are looking forward to finally being able to meet in person again and to present our new product developments. Furthermore, we are hoping for many interesting conversations and to present and discuss our thoughts on sustainability and our new nonwovens product solutions. In person as well as on the online platform.
What will you present at the Index?
We will put sustainability and new nonwovens product solutions at the center of our participation at the Index.
A special focus is on our new cell comfort Wipe. The new nonwoven substrate tackles the challenges typically faced by hygiene products produced from sustainable raw materials. Made of 100% fibers from renewable sources, this biodegradable and compostable material features a soft textile touch, high opacity, and very good fluid management.
At the moment, every new development, every new product should also be sustainable and environmentally friendly. What is your approach to a greener world?
Sustainability means rethinking, it means breaking new ground, demonstrating commitment, and understanding that there is no one solution. Sustainability cannot be achieved through one single initiative; different options and paths must be explored. Each alternative fiber, each new development forms a piece of the puzzle, complementing an ever-growing picture of nature-based product solutions. Piece by piece, our #sandlerpuzzle for a sustainable future is taking shape.
What will be the biggest challenges for the nonwovens industry after the corona pandemic?
The corona pandemic has shown us that we need to be flexible to face and overcome new challenges. We all need to accept that it is not possible to turn back to the old “normal” before the pandemic. It is important that we break new ground and shape the future together, with a special focus on sustainable product developments and new digital solutions.
The interview was conducted by our nonwovensTRENDS team with Dr. Ulrich Hornfeck, Board Member & Chief Commercial Officer, Sandler AG, Schwarzenbach/Germany.
