A strategic marketing partnership to collaboratively promote newly developed staple fibers under the IFGBio brand has been formed by IFG and PTTMCC. These will use bio-based, compostable solutions based on BioPBS technology from PTT MCC Biochem Co. Ltd. (PTTMCC), Bangkok/Thailand, a leading producer of bio-based polybutylene succinate (BioPBS).
This marketing partnership between PTTMCC and International Fibers Group (IFG), Golcar/UK, a leader in staple fibers manufacturing, is aimed to accelerate a greener fiber and nonwovens industry by introducing an alternative sustainable material for staple fibers in applications such as filtration, geotextile, construction, food and beverage etc.
Commercial production of BioPBS takes place at PTTMCC’s 20,000 ton/year production facility in Rayong/Thailand. BioPBS is partially derived from renewable resources and has very good composability performance at ambient temperature. The bioplastic material shows very good performance in low temperature heat sealability, high heat resistance and flexibility compared to other biodegradable resins.
